"Love the album, but it's not gonna come to you, you've gotta go to it. It is not a funk-metal album, it's a strange little story, beautifully told. I really enjoy its whimsicality and change of pace."

Cool that you loved this album dude, but don't give it that "it's a grower" crap. I listened to this thing about 30 times (28 times too many) while I was reviewing it, and it just got more and more drab.

Like I say, I really love the music when it actually kicks in; I like the concept; and I like the fact it's the original line-up. But damn, for a Primus album, it is so underwhelming.

Green Naugahyde was really solid, but I'm not expecting too much out of another new Primus album.

Better than Chunky Chip Factory.. Green Naughayde is better than this.

This is good but the singles released before I heard the whole album had me a little more excited than some of the tracks on here and there's only seven.

The Scheme and The Trek are damn good though [2]

I feel like "The Storm" could have been an epic rocker, they build it up so nice then come in with all the instruments for like 3 seconds but then it drops right back down. Which doesn't make it bad exactly, it just never breaks out of that slower tempo. I feel like it had some "Professor Nutter butter..." type of potential

Three tracks in rn and if it keeps up this might end up being one of my favourite Primus albums

I don't like the way this review keeps separating the idea of "actual music"

get out of your own ass

How have you taken that negatively, Astral? It's a legitimate criticism, there isn't a lot of structure to any of this album, most of it is ambient. It's not meant in a pretentious way.

Good music, but Les is clearly surrounded by yes men who dare not say his lolfunny singing has become annoying.

Idk you'll probably 3 it since the highest you've rated a Primus album has been 4
