You really do have some potent hate for this album
it's every bad aspect of folk metal on steroids - predictable riffs, overuse of pop structures, the nauseating references to metal that are like obnoxious breaking of the fourth wall, tacky choirs, terrible production and synths, absolutely no ambition and revelling in crowd pleasing. it's nauseating pagan party music. ensiferum used to be a really good balance of seriously good riff-writers with the occasional pagan party bullshit, but at least done well. but now it's all they do.

Yeah if you don't like the cheesiness you'll despise all the recent stuff

On another note, this is the wordiest, most redundancy-laden mess of a review I have literally ever read on this site. Jesus Christ man. Try to write like a human being would speak and put down the thesaurus.

i don't have an issue with cheesiness. hell, a good slathering of cheese heightens the experience. i wouldn't even call this album cheesy, it's just nauseating and embarrassing.

Doctor velvet I speak like this in history and English so I thought I'd implement it in my reviews. I'll try and speak more like a human than whatever else uses the English language next time.

Sans a few exceptions (Manowar, Judas Priest), I generally roll my eyes at any reference to Metal by a metal band. It's so overused at this point, and was never a great idea to begin with.

I will say though that your very last concluding paragraph is well-written. And sorry for being so harsh in my preceding comment. I guess I hoped my anger would be the most likely thing to influence you--or maybe it'll be the least likely.

Dw man I'm open to criticism, just seemed a bit harsh lol. I'll try and be more laid back with my reviews.

I'm not sure if I liked this more than I thought, or didn't hate it as much as I expected.
The first couple tracks are par for the course Nu-Ensiferum which is like...a 3, but I enjoyed them well enough. That second half is powerful bad, though.

I actually loved One Man Army, but this one doesn't do much for me. Only given it two listens so far but id say its my least favorite album of theirs.

Their last album wasn't bad so wonder what went wrong here.
Review's okay, some weird as hell word choices ("Scattered askew across", "eruct marching beats", "onerous to cognise") and some of the sentences flow quite awkwardly.
You don't communicate your thoughts very cogently in the third paragraph either. First you say the instrumentals can't be "objurgated" (which isn't the best word to describe written critique), then you say it's average, then describe the riffs as being of quality and the orchestration as immersive.
You got most of your points across tho, so prob won't listen to this.

Yeah I get what you mean, some of it reads rigidly.
Guess reviews below a rating of 3 aren't my strongpoint

Lol. Well it was better than unsung heroes admittedly, but it still sucked a big bag of viking dicks

Kinda wanna jam this just for shits and giggles. I've only heard the s/t and Iron and dig them both to an extent but this band has always been way overrated imo.
