All their stuff with MAC (R.I.P.) was out of this world, loved it. Heard the single and the old/new singer sounds pretty good too, gotta check the album sooner than later.

Personally, I've always found Damian Wilson to be the best Threshold vocalist. He had a really unique and beautiful vocal tone that I thought complemented the band's sound beautifully. They've never had a bad vocalist, though - Mac and Morgan are both great singers in their own right. If I were you, I'd check out every album of theirs that you haven't yet heard because they're all awesome.

I am missing all the stuff pre-Critical Mass, but never could get pass Wilson's voice man, for some reason, I don't know. He is a great singer, it's just his voice doesn't stick with me.

Omg the pre-Critical Mass albums are literally the BEST string of prog metal albums in history. The consistency in those albums is something I have never seen before.

Have you heard March of Progress? That album might sell you on his voice if you aren't sure about it. Easily his best vocal performance imo.

Whoa... Not sure if I'd go that far personally, but I do really like all of those albums! Why don't you like the albums from Critical Mass onward as much?

Would I dig this?

If you like consistent, catchy prog metal and aren't afraid of cheese, then you very well might. Only one way to find out though!

Will report back when I'm done and let you know!
Fuck not on Bandcamp... Gonna have to wait until I get home to listen.

Subsurface and Dead reckoning are easily my fav. but Critical Energy (the live album) has some real nice older tracks, although they are sang by Mac, so listening to them on record with another singer will be weird. I will binge them this week though, I will take your word on it guys.

Those ones start to sound a bit too slick and polished I think. Plus they sound too much like contemporary prog metal albums and lose any kind of personality. I should listen to them more though. But the first several clicked with me instantly and I mainly listen to those.

The review got me interested. Pos.

I think you'll like it Diva!
I mean, Ocean, Paradox is one of my favourite Threshold songs and it is from the first album?
Edit: Actually nvm, I am listening to the album version now and it's awesome. Threshold binge incoming.

Nice to see some love for this band on Sputnik. In general, this is a band not very popular, even in the prog circuits. So, congratulations for that. I don't know this album yet. However, your review brought to me great interess in put this album in my list of the next purchases. Nice work, Ocean. Pos.

I honestly think this is better than Pain of Salvation, there's just so many more memorable moments on here.

Enjoyable album. I'd set it at a 3.5 for now.
