Very sorry for tiple posting. I meant to post this (maybe this time it will work):

"I don’t think they knew Deja Entendu or The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me would later become some of the most influential records to an entire next generation of pop punk, emo, and indie rock musicians."

I agree - they could have no idea. However, they are rather self-conscious group of people and thus they hesitated so much with releasing a new material after Daisy. In my opinion, the excellence of TDAGARIM (as an album and as a work released in certain state of culture) and the striving of the band to reach that level ever since prove that there is something to the post-modernist view of independence of artwork from an artist.

I believe that the greatest wisdom of BN members is awareness of their limitations. Don't get me wrong, they are great musicians; however, they understand that they are “just” artists, not creators.

Really great review Ash, my favorite I've read from you.

This really gets amazing starting with Heaven, but there are no weak moments on here.

just woke up to all these comments and I'm super humbled by them and the flagging, glad you all enjoyed it

addressing two points in the thread:

@ Sowing: I'm really looking forward to your review too, can't wait to read it. Sorry I snagged that same opening quote - had no way of knowing you were also planning to use it, it just sticks out as this thing's thesis so well

@ Dylan: It may be a Skeleton Tree reference but it also shows up as a lyric here on the track "451." Has me wondering if it's coincidental or if the band included it consciously as a Cave shoutout
