That's exactly what it is. It's a great record but the songs are all very very similar.

Finally gave this a spin. Hauntingly beautiful, especially knowing the back-story.

So sad, she was such a gorgeous and vibrant young woman. Cancer sucks.

It does. My stepfather got diagnosed a few months ago. It isn't pretty.

so close to a 5 for me

next month will be the 5 year anniversary of losing my father to cancer. this record hits home so much for me. it's true that the circumstances around this record make it so much more poignant but tbh i see that as legitimate a reason as any to love a record. it's clear that the subject matter made it into the songwriting

Oh, definitely. Art is nothing if not a representation or expression of our thoughts and feelings. Sometimes this translates to something like a piece of music being particularly striking, and in this album's case, one's resignation to fate is the showcase. And it goes all out. Doesn't mean everyone will be able to fully enjoy or appreciate it, but those that do will have one of the most potent yet bittersweet albums to grace them.

I can probably only listen to this album from start to finish if I'm feeling truly depressed.
