I saw the new tracks live last weekend. Didn't feel out of place compared to the older material in a live setting. This seems to be hit or miss across the internet. Guessing it's like the newest Meshuggah where some thought they stagnated and some thought it was super rad. I'll find out Friday when I get it in the mail.

"I’ll be honest here. In the four years since Suffocation’s last album, I kind of forgot they existed."

Weakest Suffo record. For my money they had a pretty good track record in the 2000's, I thought the S/T and Pinnacle of Bedlam were fantastic. But the riffs here feel really stale, unoriginal with tired delivery, I mean WTF happened here?

Mullen's vox sound like someone who doesn't listen to death metal trying to imitate death metal vocals agreed

Hmm? Vocals sound fine in the embedded track. Hell, they're better than the vocals from that muppet in Artificial Brain

The 2 tracks from Youtube sound alright, but Mullen sure sounds worn out

They sound all right as in they're passable but far from anything you'd want to actually listen to.
I just saw Frank live in February and I thought they sounded great. I have no idea how the drums and vocals are so lame on this album.

I dont think not recording music means you dont give a shit about your fans. You should feel free to make albums when and if you feel like it, theres no obligation. Unless youre under contract of course, then you kind of have to.

To be fair, regarding Tool, fans should've realized like 5 years ago their isn't a new album. Also would you rather a bad album or nothing at all? Because based off this album's reception it'd probably be better scrapped.
