Those are all solid choices. Can't say I'm hearing much H&S in this, it's not as poppy, instead more atmospheric and fleshed out.

Can't wait to jam this.

For this concert I'm wearing purple spandex, a black t shirt and I will also paint my arms, hands, neck and head purple while I wear a red clown nose.

Haha, yeah, even though they can't nail the 3.8 for six albums straight.

I don't think Chevelle have been quality for a long time, but I get what you're saying!

Opening track is definitely a highlight.
But otherwise, I might put this as their second weakest, if not weakest.

I think it's mid-tier for me atm.
@Evo: Idk man personally I hear a lot of pop in this one. There are a few more oppressive and harder hitting songs (All of Nothing, No Tomorrow, Counterpane), but mostly it sounds really poppy to me. Like Endless is almost a straight dancefloor banger, Hex isn't far from it either, and 3:10 into Without You is basically dance music.
It's very much the third of the current "trilogy" and although I don't dislike them (H&S is in my top 3) I wish they'd shake it up a little more next time. I don't want to look like a basher though, I looove catchy music done right. I pretty much live off bread, water and catchiness

There's a lot of pop in all of their albums, but the previous two pushed it to the forefront the most.
"Hex" is one of the catchiest songs ever.

If you want to start with their most accessible, go with Pins and Needles.
If you want to start with the best example of their style, go with Walking with Strangers.

Or their most unique and whimsical, Violet (it's also their best imo, but they are very consistent, so it's not something to worry about). Haven't heard this yet but what I'm reading sounds pretty promising (even though the hype doesn't quite set in yet), gonna check it out sometime this week

I agree on Violet, but that first part is exactly why I didn't rec it to him. It's hard to tell if he can digest even the newer ones...

Now that these guys are more popular and have several albums, I think Violet is becoming quite underrated.
But I agree that it is very unique and maybe not a good representation of where the band is now (given that everything after that album pretty much sounds identical sonic wise and songwriting wise)

If you want their least accessible, go with Nothing & Nowhere. It's their most "magical" sounding and dark ("under the stairs no one cares I'm dead / and that's where I'll wait for you"). The guitar in Under the Stairs bites like in no other of their songs, and 1:45 into To Die For still makes me jump if I'm not paying attention for the sudden explosion after she whispers "so open your eyes".
That said as you can see it's a pretty beloved discog, go for it. Walking with Strangers is a common favorite, and mine too
