It's actually easy to get Ad Nauseum. I prefer having a physical copy & I'm not even sure how bandcamp downloads work but I'd definitely consider making an exception & paying for a download. Sounds ridiculous in this day & age but simply the idea itself fills me with trepidation & fear.

Bandcamp is fine, download a zip file of the tracks then stick em in itunes always works well. Think its the best way to get most money from ur purchase to the band. Used it plenty, lots of good bands do too!

I'm a big fan of these guys, ever since Adultery, and embarrassingly I wasn't as familiar with their older stuff as it came off really raw and undeveloped compared to their later works. How wrong I was.

If you're new to this band, this is a great place to start. I'm not a fan of re-recorded albums in general, but they did a phenomenal job here - at worst, it's a faithful yet better-produced (and better-performed) take on their debut, and at best, they took these old songs from a 7 to a 10. The performances are genuine and inspired, the sound and production is top-notch (for the style).

I describe this as a very good mix of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and System Of A Down. If you like (or liked) those bands, you will love this.

Currently obsessed:

Christian Dance Song (like Mr. Bungle & SOAD doing salsa metal)

Wait (great, actually touching song about suicide)

Lookin' For Love (Still Lookin') - the highlight, a brilliant, funny take on 50's slow dance that Mike Patton wishes he wrote

A Corpse Is A Corpse - just a killer headbangin' groove

There's some sweet stuff on here especially the first 5 tracks but it's a bit lounge-ballad heavy in the middle & I still find 'Corpse's' lyrics/vox obnoxious even though the riffs are awesome. The redux does make it slightly more bearable but unfortunately still slightly cringe-worthy. Considering I can't listen to other early DFD albums anymore this is a pleasant surprise in comparison, so that's certainly something. This is a lot more tastefully done overall.

Hopefully it'll grow a little, better than Anarchists & Ad Nauseum so far & below Committed, SN & of course the all-conquering Adultery.

Remembered to listen to Dog Fashion Disco on a whim and learned they released a "new" album. I'm digging this quite a bit.

And now they've announced 'Experiments in Embryos', a redux of their next 2 iffy-production-quality albums for May 2018. Siddhis, Primate and God Crisis should be immense!

Erotic massage?

Can't we have at least one thread here not obsessed with Jesse Lacey?

Haha. I agree we should be discussing Adultery instead, this isn’t their best.

I don’t know anything about that dude & I’m not familiar with his work, I was just pleased DFD got bumped.

Adultery

Committed to a Brighter Future

Sweet Nothings

This

Anarchists/Ad Nauseum

Adultery is one of my favourite albums ever, the rest is a mixed bag, some people actually enjoy Anarchists, you might if you want a rawer sound & don’t mind cringey ‘offensive’ lyrics. The early recordings pre-Anarchists aren’t really worth delving into as they re-released a lot of the material later & the production is crude to say the least. This is a remake of some early work.

Oh & if you don't mind some electo-funk in your alt. metal then I recommend Sex Offender by Polkadot Cadaver (another Todd Smith project), that album is so infectious & probably more accessible than any DFD... I don't know if that's the right word to use but it's catchy anyway.

Clearly am a huge fan of this, so would recommend EM, but can't argue that Adultery is a masterpiece. Always thought Polkadot's Sex Offender is a perfect rock record, so definitely agree that needs to be checked. Their new album, Get Possessed, is out very soon and is sounding huge. On another tack, The Alter Boys shows Todd mixing DFD with a large amount of lounge and funk, that could float your boat. At least give Famine Ghost a listen!

Yeah I used to like the early stuff but it just sounds different to me now, as long as we agree that Adultery is the starting point hopefully we haven’t confused the guy.

It's where I began, and have only gotten more obsessed since. Def prefer the newer stuff, largely coz of the production quality, but have been listening to Committed a lot recently. Damn, it's got a lot of awesome tunes!

Fortunately I still dig Committed, it's Anarchists I mainly have issue with. This is decent because of the improved production but it still has those uncomfortable moments preventing it from being up there with Committed, Sweet Nothings, or (especially) Adultery.

Fair enuff. Don't have any issues with this at all, and the production makes it sound incredible. Also, am totally in love with Wait, Oral Spunk and Dis-content!

Agreed with the above in that Adultery is DFD's best record by a fairly wide margin. Committed and Sweet Nothings are also worth hearing, but they're not as consistent. Ad Nauseum also has a couple of fun tracks ("Last Night Never Happened", "Golden Mirage").

Ad Nauseam is great, not their most cohesive record maybe, but still some great tracks. Watching You and Baby Bones are definitely amongst their best.

My only turn off with this album it so clearly rips-off Patton.
