I don't hear it, Garrison has a much stronger voice with actual range and he varies it up with lows, highs, yells, and shouts frequently

Augment and Impulse are perfect 5s to me, Drift was such a huge step down in all regards, even the guitar playing wasn't nearly as good. Moments of Clarity was great, and Ian was actually a pretty damn good replacement for Garrison. Too bad he fucked up his voice

I'll never get the dislike for Drift, I really think Jesse steals that record and delivers his best vocals, and his guitars are totally up to snuff (especially on Orchid, Drift and Sleeper). If the guitar work got a bit simpler, I wouldn't even blame him, I've seen Erra live multiple times and I do not envy that guy's responsibilities... I could cut him some slack.

It's not up to my expectations of them and what I know Jesse is capable of. Plus Jesse is missing his partner Alan to bounce ideas and riffs off of, the new guy can only tap and chug. Jesse has my utmost respect and I love the dude, but honestly he shows up way too much on Drift and makes the songs feel too formulaic. Sleeper and Hourglass are the only songs I ever go back to, coincidentally because of Jesse and the guitar playing in both tracks

I'd honestly rather have Jesse focus on Ghost Atlas at this point

I feel like Augment suffered from formula way more. Take Alpha Seed for example, a song full of good parts but arranged like shit. Jesse hits that chorus wayyy too hard and too much, it's borderline unlistenable after a while. He never had that problem on Impulse because the clean hooks were far more sparse. His vocals on Drift don't run into a problem like this, he's tightened up and polished his lines and paced them so well in my opinion.

Interesting that we agree on Northlane but not on Erra of all things. Oh well.

Since you like Jesse, have you heard these songs that he's guested on? They're fuckin sweet. His singing hook on Chromatic is legendary, like White Noise level shit.

Keep It For Tomorrow - Seishin

Through Lucid Eyes - Celestial

To Catch A Fox - Chromatic

Yea I've heard those guest spots, I love them. My favorite guest spot of his is on Invent, Animate's song Naturehold. I love Alpha Seed, it feels formulaic for sure, but it's done fantastically. Oh well, can't agree on everything, we do agree on most things from what I've seen haha.

And that's unfortunate Jeet my boi, did you ever check Ground Culture?

Jeet I don't know what you're looking for from these guys, but if it's the cleans you don't like, check the song Sky Burial or Who I Once Was. Those are 2 of their best and have no cleans at all.

Eh I dunno what I was expecting. This just doesn't sound fun or attention grabbing at all, and that's really all I want out of a core album. The songs on here blur together IMO, but I'll give this and those songs you recommended a chance.

If you're gonna give them only 1 chance I wouldn't listen to this album at all honestly... Try The Abominable EP (different singer who sounds completely different) or some of the better cuts on Ground Culture

I'm definitely big on the JT feature here. I think KoG's style honestly fits him better than Erra. If the 2 bands traded vocalists I wouldn't complain tbh
