well said barber. this album is really good too. many moments that made me stop what i was doing and pay attention. i love postrock as well, even the generic kind. there are enough of all variations on the genre to please anyone so id be glad to see the meme go away.

A 5! Oh I am so diving into this today. What I heard so far made me fluffy. Good review man.

You can have the goat though.
On topic, this was great but a bit less than I expected, I would still put Grails' over this one.

The syncopated hi-hats on War on Torpor make me lose my shit. Love this.

thanks everyone! and thanks for the feature
i don't think it talks about how stale post-rock is??? i hope it doesn't come off this way because i absolutely adore post-rock as a genre. it'd be remiss of me not to mention how this album deviates from the rest of the genre though considering that's one of the reasons i love it

Heard bound and boundless and it was pretty boring. Is the rest considerably better?
|
| |
the rest is just as good, if you didn't feel the singles then you probs won't dig the rest
|
| |
Yeah I'm not really hearing what differentiates this from all the other post rock out there. Only heard the first 4 tracks but it sounded kind of samey to me. Will give it another chance tho

@JS19 please be more specific so i know if i have to feel insecure about my review or not

Bro your review is great don't worry! Just people have been saying:
'As a general rule, the record eschews the conventions of post-rock and forgoes the ever-unfolding crescendo'
and
'Really, this is post-rock made by people who wish to stop post-rock from sleepwalking to its bitter end.'
about every album people have been calling post rock for at least 10-15 years now. It's almost like it's impossible to write a review without mentioning it somehow. I can't remember the last album in the genre that was liked that didn't have the same banal sentiments tacked on.
Maybe a good album is a good album? The same thinking follows metalcore around. Can't enjoy an album in the genre without making sure your integrity is intact by letting other people know 'this time it's different'.
Idk small gripe - your writing is p. great dude

ahah all good thanks man!
i see where you're coming from but i kinda still stand by those statements only because the differences are so pronounced on this one, especially when compared to stuff like the newest Caspian and EITS records (which are also great). i think i might have been speaking in extremes, though, so i'll take whatcha said on board (:

ayyyy nice Jack congrats on the well-deserved feature! really wanna check this now, review is killer and very enthusiastic which fits the rating well
