"u need to take your time with cunningham"
for sure, but i still maintain that this is pretty bottom heavy. i see myself revisiting the last 5 or so songs mostly
a bit surprised that some people are favouring this over past material, but diff'rent strokes

Cool review. Gonna scope it today

So should this be my first Actress?

I don't think so... I'd recommend Splazsh or Hazyville

Cool thanks, will check. I've seen a lot of people referencing Splazsh.
I've been trying to get into this more obtuse electronic stuff for a while. Have some other suggestions: FaltyDL, Nathan Fake, Andy Stott, Floating Points. If anyone has any others recommendations, I'm open.

" Even a track like “There’s An Angel In The Shower”, despite the pounding four-on-the-floor beat, feels distracted with slow piano strokes and soft twinkling. Its thought process is simultaneously fast and slow. "
not sure if intentional but this is repeated twice in the third para x
i agree w what you're saying and definitely favour the second half . last 4 tracks are stupid! angel is essentially the slopped not chopped Jardin i've always wanted + killer 4/4
one of my favourites of the year, but will be a while to see where i rank this beside other actress albums, i think gGghettoville still reigns suprme

" i see the cover art as emphasising fusion of those things machine and human"
sure, but the dividing line is still apparent. sure they're joined, but the difference can be delineated
"find this kinda funny cuz you went through a period where you'd start//base a lot of your reviews on promotional blurbs : P"
there's a difference between using them as fodder and basing your hopes off of them imo. i see what you mean though, and what can i say other than i've grown more cynical. still, it's a reviewing aide of sorts - if i didn't write reviews, i probably wouldnt read promo blurbs at all, or, would take them with a grain of salt.
but anyway tying into your last point - will consider interweaving some more personal touches in future write-ups

i mean an analytic impersonal review suits the music here
