Album rules indeed. Funny review though.

These guys went a certain direction for a couple of albums because they like to play that kind of music now and probably simply got tired of doing the same thing over and over again. Who can blame them? Damnation was also different, but no one complained about that.... I hope they do a bit heavier album next, or maybe another more acoustic thing. The only thing I don't want is that they produce another "Ghost Reveries" or "Watershed". They did that, they did it perfectly already, so they they should move on, like they have for the last three albums.

Quite funny review indeed. Quite accurate even if I wouldn't be so severe towards that poor Mikael.

This was actually written 3 years ago; I posted it for about 1 day then asked to have it deleted because for some reason metacritic actually quoted it and I didn't want to embarrass the site (whoops! too late!). I stumbled upon this while sifting through some old word files to delete, and decided to slap it back up here for the lols.

Edit. I just realized I thought this was a review for Sorceress.

I like Pale Communion

Well if it was written 3 years ago it proved to be very prophetic...

I wouldn't mind a Ghost Reveries pt. 2

Well it wasn't "prophetic" because they had already released two horrible records in the same vein. They have indeed continued down that path though.

Notice how the world turned to shit when Opeth turned folkprogwank?

Not saying it was Mikael's fault, although it's tempting. Rather he was an early victim of the age of suck.

TIL people like Heritage more than this. At least Pale Communion is decent music. Heritage was just a head scratcher.

Damnation did the whole prog rock thing much better IMO. It seems to have more of its own identity.
