Twig - yeah, this album is Gorey inspired, the lyrics are amusing in places but...I think there's going to be a divide in my Lillies ratings between stage-y Lillies and more 'conventional album' Lillies



This is starting to get more like a slightly sick but generally family friendly musical in places, and that's not what I enjoy most about the band.

I've listened to it 10 times and it went from a 3 to a 3.5 in my estimations, it could go higher possibly. This is them in very operatic territory throughout though and I find that tough to listen to for a full album without respite tracks.

I need to listen to this a bit more - 'Weeping Chandelier' and 'Gin' are 5/5 tracks for me, and the closer and 'Learned Pig' are really good too

Nah, songwriting is patchy and the lyrics aren't as consistently good as their best stuff.



Take the 13 best songs on 'Either Or', 'Freakshow', 'Brothel', 'Circus' or 'Births. Marriages..' and they all murder this.
