This is good but Lorca is where he really blew me away

I already like this more than Lorca (save for the bookends there), although it does FEEL like a nice bridge into that realm
I like the proto-ambience / Davis mention in the review. "In A Silent Way" is likely still my fave Davis after all and I would have never been likely to draw that intriguing parallel if left to my own devices

His best album...then Starsailor...then Lorca

Starsailor is a cut above anything else I've heard thus far. Legitimately stunning (first 2/3rds especially). I'm just doing my due diligence on his discog before revisiting, to (hopefully) solidify its greatness

I’ll revisit but for whatever reason I marginally prefer this one.
Also agree with above comments that the highlights on Lorca are unbelievably good.

Star > Lorca > This
All great tho.

This cannot possibly be his best due to the conflicting messages. Is he happy or sad? - my chance at any meaningful connection to the work at hand, is hence lost due to such obfuscation

lol @ 60s / early 70s folk covers in general
think I had some stupid assumption as a kid that everything in this general realm was godawfully dull because of the artwork (yes, that was clearly very silly!)

Damn. I enjoy this more than Goodbye and Hello. And it’s perhaps more consistent than Starsailor (Star’s peaks are ridiculous tho). What an incredible artist.

Nice, there’s something really inviting about this one I feel.

Yes this most def clears GOODBYE & HELLO (though that album is still great). A classic discography indeed. Just stop when you get to STARSAILOR….nothing to see (hear?) after that…..

I will not stand for Greetings from LA erasure.

Lorca continues to grow. It's a tight run thing with this now (pointless tie-in, just no review for Lorca innit). It's definitely a trickier, elusive kinda affair but the atmosphere is thicc and rather unique within his discog. Some of the percussion is v cool too.
(I was wondering if Buckers would / will ever get bumped again... Doof is likely my only hope in post-apocalyptic Sput)
