Ala edited his comment. before he said something like "calling a review bad for being sexist when it's not is even worse than what you got"

@SPR - snide has written 5/5 reviews for BVB albums and still gotten praise and he's one of the most divisive users on the site so there goes that hypothesis. not to say there aren't cases where ppl get negged unfairly but in your case it came with criticism so idk maybe start your own site that isn't driven by communal criticism because apparently it doesn't work for you.

it's p. petty to go into another person's review to complain about how u didn't get a better pos ratio bruh
awkward wording in this review too, neg
|

Any specific examples? Things read out fine to me, but wording has never been my forte.

there's nothing sexist about this review, other than the slight nibble about "sexual finesse" tbh
vaxxi:
"While I Don’t Wanna to Grow Up was a well polished variety of melodically driven tunes that had the sense to spread the sugary sweet, synth heavy backdrop with plenty of well placed production tricks from vocal chops acoustic guitars, All Your Fault is the bare minimum."
this one's awkward, and has a typo at the end

"other than the slight nibble about "sexual finesse" tbh"
About half of the EP is dedicated to Rexha describing having hot sex of some kind and its clearly meant to be taken as "sexy" so I don't really see a problem with using that lil nibble. I'll reread the review a bit and try to fix some things up. Thanks.

it's not sexist by itself, it's just that in this site, it makes it sound like being sexually explicit is something you think is negative by itself, since we've had so many writers before make those kind of comments. I get that you later refer to the execution as the problem and not sexuality itself, it's just the wording that gives off that vibe.
It's ok tho, good luck with editing >:]

It's a shame that people actually judge music like that, then. However, I think my immediate paragraphs made it clear that it was the execution (like you said) so I'll keep it as is.

so what happened here

Album Rating: 1.5
If you're talking about the album, either Rexha or some executive on her label decided that "edgy" was the way to spin her career after being on Me, Myself, and I. They replaced all her old writers and producers with a bunch of C-level hacks (along with one particular big name producer who has made some of the worst songs out in the last decade) and then tried to force this new image and none of it works cuz no one gives a shit about Rexha anyways.
if you're talking about this thread, idek.
On a side note, I did some editing and ironed out the typos/switched out some words. If things are still too wordy or just badly phrased I'd like some further feedback. Thanks!

wait wait, i thought vaxxi was the writer of the review lmao

I am, I just forgot to switch accounts when I made that comment lmao.

"wait wait, i thought vaxxi was the writer of the review lmao"
HE DID, Vaxxi is clover's account for commenting, 2x17 is for his 2017 reviews
|

Well actually, I wasn't intending to come back to sputnik at all and 2x17 was meant to be a review dump for albums out this year. But I got bored after two months and came back a few days ago. I also didn't want to just ditch the account so...

Your logic is on point bb

"Funny how if someone's got the same opinion as everyone else it tends to garner a better reception than if someone goes outside the box and actually places a positive spin on it, which gets trashed primarily for having a positive outlook on the EP"
any benefit of doubt I gave you in terms of dignity, self awareness and respect have just been thrown away in the worst comment I've ever seen
this isn't constructive criticism btw

Considering (as Johnny said [thanks man]) that my 5/5 2500 word review of one of the most hated albums on this site (BVB's Set the World on Fire) had basically a 95% pos ratio when it was up, I sincerely doubt this is true.
I read through your review so I could see what you were talking about, and while I wouldn't have negged it myself, I could understand why it was negged. It doesn't really "say" anything. You basically just describe the feeling you get when listening to the songs, you don't say anything objectively about the types of melodic arrangements, or synth plucks, what vocal stylings she uses, or anything in that regard. As was said in your own thread by another user, it was just a messy review.
I know it's frustrating to have reviews negged (a couple of my reviews have been negged to hell because I tried something that didn't work, and that's okay, it happens), but if anything it should only make you more confident that your next review will be even better than the previous one. Learn from it, embrace it, and use it to become an even better writer.
