The highlights on PtA are indeed better than the ones on this album. However, I found the second half of PtA to be a bit inconsistent.

Beat me to it this time! Nice one, I agree with you on Scum especially, although I've had So Much Love playing on repeat this week for far longer than is healthy.

Just finished. First impression is that the first 3 tracks are nearly perfect, then there's a big dropoff. I kind of wish they would have stuck with the political theme from start to end - the way the topics weave makes this seem sort of unfocused. With that said, "Scum", "You Move", and "Fail" are all great tracks that come after that opening trifecta. For now this is a 3.7 with a small chance it moves up into to 4 range with time.

I was really hoping for a sweeping political statement and it only delivered in the beginning =(
Still good all in all

I mean, I'm guessing it's only been recently in the political atmosphere that political statements have sifted into their music, I'd rather get a packaged album that's been thought out then throwing some last minute tunes together that complete the political messaging. I want a political record that's well thought out and hits home with truth, not some half assed songs that are thrown together haphazardly pandering to the political climate.

same with me JWT, but I don't think what you're saying is impossible
just need an artist to craft universally relatable politics, not jump on trends
for example, 'Where's The Revolution' could still have meaning 10 years from now whereas a song specifically about George Bush from 2004 is no longer relevant

Dude whaaaat
Nothing's Impossible, Damaged People, Lilian, The Darkest Star... D:
Even the little Introspectre is killer for what it is, it has that rich gloominess that I love to hear from this band. In fact my top 3 is BC, MftM and PtA
btw going into this album NOW

I'll agree sowing, and there's definitely plenty of universal truths that can be spoken about politically, regardless of time and place, just become more and less relevant as time goes on.

This isn't the first time they flirted with social commentary though

Understood, I just feel over the next few months/years, there's going to be a clash between some very genuine and inspirational political albums, and others that are just cashing in on the trend. I don't mind the political tracks on here, in fact they're very good, I'm just rationalizing on why there's so few because the current political climate really has only morphed into what it's become in the last 3-6 months. Certainly the whole political election cycle has been heated, but it has been until Trump officially winning and taking the presidency that the climate has escalated to what feels like a monumental breaking point, with Trump officially becoming the head of state the final catalyst.

This album is...very 'on the nose' lol

The only issue with PtA is that it's loud as fuck. Amazing production but mastered too loud.

I need to check this out, bad.

@JWT: well yes I see your point. These are the days of bands like Anal Trump after all
@bloc: go with the DVD mixes! (do it for every single album, tbh)
This is actually pretty sweet. I already know I'm gonna listen to Eternal to oblivion
