Yea, SH4 has a pretty sweet soundtrack, very different from the rest... It's more subtle but at the same time still fucking terrifying.

I think 4 is incredibly unsettling. Some songs there are downright tragic.
3 is my personal favorite - "Dance With Night Wind" being one of the single most melancholy / beautiful / depressing pieces of music I've heard in my life. Its fucking amazing.
2, of course, has some all-timers. It set the stage for 3 and all beyond.

If I was in Yamaoka's presence I'm not sure how I would handle myself. He's legitimately a hero of mine. I started to look at music in such a different way when SH3 shipped with the soundtrack included.

lol I just made a playlist of "video game" music to put on in the shop I started working at and had to make sure to cut most of the tracks from this one in particular
for standalone listening, 3 is definitely my favorite
