The thing that makes or breaks Mike is that he opts for a straightforward lyrical style--he's not dancing around too many metaphors and is more often than not strictly honest--and sometimes gets trapped within the same subject matter. Like, the guy never stops talking about how he's being put down but he'll rise above it. Gets stale sometimes, both here and within LP

Conversely, if he wasn't so direct with his lyrics, you wouldn't have something as hard-hitting as Kenji.

Yeah, I see this as a heart-on-his-sleeve kind of album, which is why it works so well for me.

Although, I don't really hear the "putting me down" subject all that often. It's only really mentioned on a couple of songs. I hear him going on about a struggle in finding the balance between family life and touring just as much.

But yeah, tracks like Kenji are killer.

I am surprised it doesn't get much more positive reception here, it honestly is kinda experimental

The beats are fire . Souls of beyond did their job and Mike had good verses scattered throughout. I just wish he would up his vocab. It's okay to be direct in your storytelling or soliloquy rhymes or whatever but make it so that I'm impressed by the rhymes instead of just agreeing with them

I think at one point he will hesitate about linkin park and return to fort minor. He knows LP can't continue without Chester.

I'm fairly positive that LP is done. Although I do wish that Joe Hahn would join Mike in Fort minor. I need me some Hahn scratching.

Does he even do anything in LP anymore? He's about as useless as the turntablist in Deftones

Yeah frank Delgado, but he’s more in charge of ambient sounds and shit. He scratched in the Korea bridge

Not as invoked as Hahn tho

They're both useless. Use a backing track and split his share 4 ways
