I agree that the sax went on for too long and it wasn't a good idea. The end of Shadows is wonderful.

those loop melodies in the first track are pretty emotionally affecting to anyone with actual ears.

Yes they are, even for 20 minutes never got me tired, the sax though. Wish he would have added smth else though.

I don't much love the initial tape loop in the Bowie track but certainly wish he deep-sixed that sax anyway
