Plus I really dig the opener.

I guess that's it, this doesn't rock nearly as much as their previous material, and I can take or leave pop punkish hooks/choruses - especially when they sound this overfamiliar

That's a really fair analysis, and my initial reaction too, but I've had some of these hooks stuck in my head since the stream was released. I can't disregard that, even if I wish this was Here and Nowhere Else pt. 2.

I've been listening to the pre released songs a fair bit in advance of the full album and they haven't really put in their hooks the same way songs like 'Psychic Trauma' or 'I'm Not Part of Me' did. I wouldn't go as far as to say they're not at all catchy, more they're just barely catchy enough to be worthwhile at all.

more like Sound without Life, amirite? snoooooze

safe pop-punkish vibes without the intensity of the previous two. But dude still writes some hooks that I can't help but love. I got room for 1 sugary indie/pop/rock album per year and this was enough to meet that need. Doesn't touch Here and Nowhere Else though, agreed

Yup, a 2.5 rating isn't supposed to read as an out and out slating - these are ok songs, I just miss those hooks being bastardised by either distortion/dark atmospherics (Attack) or beats/screaming (Here and Nowhere)

i guess you can say that this album is
useless

think the production is pretty bland here but the songs are alright

Will it stay useless?

Klap - I think the songs themselves are a step down too, not as big a drop off as with the lifeless production, but still a noticeable dip

Great review Doof. Haven't heard anything by these guys and clearly this isn't the place to start.

Cheers Boney, not sure they're your bag, maybe give 'Wasted Days' off 'Attack on Memory' a spin to see what the fuss is about.
But then I wouldn't blame you if you skipped on that and went straight to the new Eitzel which was released today. Be warned, the best songs seem to be grouped in the middle of the tracklist, just in case the first songs don't grab you.

I'm definitely planning on listening to the Eitzel this afternoon. There'll be a review for that coming soon too I imagine?

Mars, are you more a guitar or drums dude?
Guitar - go for 'Attack on Memory'
Drums - plump for 'Here and Nowhere Else'
Or try both, they're both great.

Boney, yup, I'll be reviewing the Eitzel but might leave it a week to grow on me (and settle on a rating).

Personally a bass dude if anything, but I'll jam anything that's done well imo, will spin in time

Anyone here seen these guys live? They're coming into town in a few weeks - worth the $20?
