Jam it again but it's not very immediate, in my experience.

You probably never heard of Ras Algethi because they are not funeral doom at all.

Ea is generic FD that gets worse with each album.

They barely have the elements that makes a band FD. They are more atmo doom than anything else.

I would say they are different from the finnish scene bands. I still see them as funeral doom though. They just have their own unique take. Much less extreme and more ambient focused than the fins. Its slow with synths. That's enough to be considered funeral doom to me. Sure Its closer to normal doom like Katatonia than Skepticism.

Anyone else think a black metal cover of this album would be sick? There are a lot of similarities between black metal and funeral doom IMO. Both long and drawn out, just that one is played at a very fast tempo while the other is played super slowly haha.

Every once and a while when I'm listening to this album i'll think to myself "what if this chord was tremolo picked ,and there were blastbeats in the background instead?" it would work, I know it would!

Yes there is some definite similarity there. It's closer to the more ambient styles of black metal than anything else I can think of.

I could definitely do with blastbeaten tremolo picked funeral doom. I'm damp just thinking about it tbh

This album is so fun to listen to in my car. Whenever I go anywhere im always thinking of what to play... And 75% of the time I settle on this. Never gets old for me.

It's one of the few metal albums that actually sounds good on my car's speakers.
