Really enjoyed this (as all their stuff) good review too. Codex is still my fave, closely followed by black widow

Who remembers that news story of the guy wearing an anaal nathrakh shirt who took a bullet for a stranger who was gonna get shot?

would've had to hear about that oddly specific story first in order to remember it.

"The Whole of the Law (a title which to me, seems awkwardly worded)"

I'm not sure how seriously to take a reviewer who doesn't recognise an obvious reference to Aleister Crowley (or Thelema).

That said, I love this album (and AN in general). They're the only totally unhinged band I know that still manages to work in amazing melodies.

New to Anaal Nathrakh, always kinda dismissed them as just another black metal band. I was wrong. I listened to this album first, and for me, there is no other band that sounds like these guys. Can't wait to delve deeper into their discography.

Dude... Anaal Nathrakh are different... High level of production value but retains the raw, horrendously evil sound of malefic power.

My absolute favourite album of theirs is The Codex Necro. Absolute fucking savagery, but really well done. And the vocals don't get enough credit - how many styles can one man manage? It's so damn impressive.

Also, to the guy who said he can't take a reviewer seriously if he isn't well versed in Crowley... Fuck off, mate.

Not everyone is aware of Crowley's works. From both a grammatical and commonality standpoint, 'The Whole of the Law' is an esoteric title.

Can't wait for the new one. This band slays pretty consistently.

Hell is Empty and Black Widow are borderline 5's for me hard.

That one rules too but jam Black Widow first for sure.

Constellation is the only worthwhile thing these guys have done, and even so, it's still not THAT great.

I think this is hands down their best effort yet.
