The Ballad of Costa Concordia is still the best song of this year and one of the best of the decade so far

My main complaint is the best ideas of every song are exhausted by the mid way point then he just ramps up the intensity and screaming - it's a good trick...once or twice

Costa Concordia stands apart from my general complaint as it's awesome

The last 90 seconds of Joe Gets Kicked are particularly annoying

The truth hurts. But not as much as the outros to 50% of the songs here - it's a bit lazy. Shame as he has pretty good ideas, just doesn't know how to wrap them up

You have become such a negative person
It's all just an act

My ratings are causing my average to go up so ratings wise I'm objectively getting more positive.
Comments wise I'd say even more so but maybe you're just seeing the worst of it?
This is still a good album but too long and repetitious in that the format of his style becomes too predictable

I certainly understand your comments doof, though I'd argue the wrap ups are more than just loudness. I mean sure they do use the same formula roughly, but they're all distinct and fitting. Like the end of Not What I Needed is a great and unexpected contrast to the first half of the song, and those on Joe Gets Kicked and Drunk Drivers just feel like the logical and satisfying conclusions to me, especially when taken in the context of the slow build up and lyrics. The end of Joe Gets Kicked though is one of my favourite moments on the record. Your point about Unforgiving Girl is the one instance I totally agree, but not so much the rest. Each to their own though, this is easily my favourite record this year so I'm quite biased

It's still a great album, I maintain that - would I prefer if he could work a song so that it keeps musically more restrained throughout but still builds emotion? Yes. Just a variety thing.
Plus I don't like the end of Joe Gets Kicked

I find three that would fit the criteria, Doof. A lot of them have a very epic song structure, which crescendos to a climax. But some are literally just repeating the same vocal motifs present throughout the song, coincidentally ending on one of them. I dunno, I suppose I can see where you're coming from, I just disagree hard.

Thats what I like about doof, you may disagree with him but at least he articulates his views sufficiently so that you can see where he's coming from

drugs with friends, 1937, unforgiving girl, connect the dots
so like... 4 songs. not even 50% of the album.

Yo Doofus,
What do you have against catharsis?
It's very important to depressive types.
