"This is very well done, but lacking personality."

That pretty much sums up their discography. This album is a step up though.

Released the three best tracks on the album early to give the false idea that this album would be artistically varied and showcase technical prowess. The remaining tracks are still good, but the variety between tracks blur through out a 72-minute album. Disappointing release.

I'm loving this record so far. Unlike their last record there are more than one song that I've found myself humming. The new vocalist seems have added a lot more range both in growls, screams and cleans. Very impressed.

I'm gonna disagree, soulxstlr. I think the tracks they released prior to the album release are some of the weaker tracks on this album.

Definitely one of the most ambitious albums of the year, that's for sure. Then again, with the other two Allegaeon albums I've heard, I don't think calling this latest effort "ambitious" is much of a surprise. I am however surprised at the level of accessibility there is here, there's certainly a lot more catchiness in a lot of the songs here-more so than on the previous album. That said, I found the second half of "Proponent for Sentience" a lot more enjoyable than the first. The first was good, but it was fairly forgettable after a while and hard to separate one song from the other. With the second half is where the album's real highlights come around-that is the second part of the title track, 'The Algorithm', "Cognitive Computations" and "The Arbiters". Solo work is also pretty solid here, despite at times seeming repetitive.

^^^Exactly this. it's good but I feel like they could've dropped like half the tracks and just kept the really solid stuff and the album would've been better off

Gonna jam this eventually, but the idea of a 73 minute melodeath album doesn't elicit a great deal of enthusiasm; these guys are no Vektor.

It's got some REALLY amazing stuff floating around in here but that's the problem. Gets lost easily.

All Hail Science fuckin rules though haha.

I'm really digging Part 2 of the title track recently, the lyrics are pretty bad ass.

^ Part 2 is one of my favorites from the album, the lyrics are on point. The intro is awesome and the fade out is well done.

Well I gotta say this is the best Allegaeon so far. Really top notch in terms of variety as far as this band goes. It's like they addressed all the bad tropes they used to perpetuate

Of Mind and Matrix has gotta be the best song off this. True futuristic vibe from that one. Love that Fallujah riff in the beginning and the chorus. All in all reminds me of stuff like Kalisia, Sybreed or Mechina. Any other recs for this genuine space/futuristic sound?

^ Decrepit Birth's 'Polarity' comes to mind, as well as The Faceless's 'Planetary Duality', though those veer out towards tech death. It's a pretty unique style, for sure.

I really enjoyed the concept for this album, even if it has already been done to death by Fear Factory and numerous other metal bands. However, the brick wall production definitely grates and a few of the tracks midway through the album blend into one another. The Proponent for Sentience I-III suite and Of Mind And Matrix (so much Fallujah influence) are the standout tracks.

Also...dat Rush cover.

Wouldn't go as far as to call it a Fallujah influence, Fallujah is more than about super high tremolo notes, they're not as regular and predictable in their riffs due to being tech death

It did kinda remind me of them though
