yeah that's the message jeremy said he couldn't handle to listen to because iirc it's the last recording of her mother's voice before she passed

"lol this is definitely not as good as tlla"
who said it was and why would you make the comparison?
|
| |
because both albums revolve around the death of a parent?
and aren't these guys and pbtt considered part of "the wave" or something, if that's still a thing

"because both albums revolve around the death of a parent?"
so do a shit ton of other albums too
"and aren't these guys and pbtt considered part of "the wave" or something, if that's still a thing"
yeah but the two sound next to nothing like each other
|
| |
i guess more similar to this type of music/genre
there's some soundoffs that mention lack long after
|
| |
gonna give this a spin.. never been a big Touche fan but this got me interested, seems like their best since Dead Horse.
|
| |
"yeah but the two sound next to nothing like each other"
i mean, they don't sound exactly the same, but i've seen touche and pbtt grouped together plenty of times, and the fact that tlla was released only 5 years ago, idk i'm not comparing the two, but it's not hard or out there for people to be comparing this album to tlla

I can see why people are comparing this to tlla, but yeah both albums are devastating af

then again, comparing this to tlla wouldn't even come to anyone's mind if it wasn't for the lyrical content

If you can't see the blatant similarities between this and TLLA, you need to stop kidding yourself. I'm not one to say that they shouldn't have, but the voicemail at the end will remind anyone of the end of "I'll Get By", the closing track of TLLA. Also both passionate emo/hardcore.

well yeah the voicemail thing is kinda similar (what is it, like five seconds) but these guys play very straightforward melocore (although they make some twists on this album) while tlla is post-rock tinged post-hardcore and the vocals don't sound much like each other either. i might be splitting hairs here since in a bigger picture the two aren't too far from each other but to me the differences between them are vast

This is basically the new Gojira album I mean the only thing different is the music and lyrics

Digging the melody on "Rapture" pretty hard

@Art the ones they played live when I saw them live a couple years back. I have a mix of them...think it's Honest Sleep, Throwing Copper, Cadence, and Adieux

Deserves more than a 4. I may change to a 4.5 at some point in the future. May stay the same, but still it's more worthy than a 4

Also I don't get the hate on Skyscraper. Sure it has the sound of The National, but it's like he's reached acceptance while still showing his passion, love, hope, and tragic loss of his mother, while still keeping her alive in the end. Maybe it was a poor choice for a single, but taken in context it is an absolutely wonderful closer.
