Yeah this is ok. Definitely his best album since Addicted.

"a hole other album is in there"

typically how he does it now adays, yeah. I know Casualties had a whole 'nother CD of b-sides, too. Kinda makes that whole "double album" of Z^2/Sky Blue seem a whole lot less significant for Devvy, dunnit?

This is alright guys. I mean it's technically accomplished as hell as is all Devy but are we just ignoring that there's absolutely nothing interesting happening vocally on the whole album? Where the hell are the melodies

There are some good melodies throughout.

Haven't caught a single one yet. Cheesy Dev, overambitious Dev I can put up with but bored Dev is just wrong fundamentally

"Higher" sucks. There are some good moments, but yeah, I agree this is largely autopilot. Wrote a review I've been sitting on that I'll probably put out sometime soon...

The chorus bit where they're just repeating HIIIIGHER HIIIGHER for like a minute with no variation is absolutely embarrassing

Completely agree. tbh, I think I am going to lower my rating. I love Dev, but I can't remember a single track despite blasting this like crazy. I just don't think this is great.

Its bizarre - between this, Epicloud and the Z2 stuff I would have been pretty convinced he'd lost his touch except for CoC sitting comfortably in there as one of my favourite projects of his. Maybe he's just drained the well on his heavier stuff

I rly like this but agree with rowan, this is possibly Devs weakest album in terms of vocals/vocal melodies - which is particularly strange because right now his live vocals are better than ever

"the second cd on casualties were b-sides? lol"

they were a whole other album's worth of material in the same vein as the main album, but didn't make it to the album itself. Maybe not b-sides strictly speaking, but functionally yeah.

His best work since Deconstruction, but still pretty inconsistent and lacking in areas.
