First couple of listens I felt the same. I love this band but I think id built this up far to high. MCTTG is an all timer for me so to even get near that would be hard. It almost feels suffocatingly melancholic at times which usually Im down with but there seems to be less pay off than the previous record. All though Im still massively looking forward to continuous listens before I make my mind up. I though this would be instant 5 shit but right now its 3.5 ish id say.

I actually think the best new song they did was the one that didnt make them album from the decibal flexi series.

Not as good as MCTTG agreed but it's a solid 4 for me on first listen.

Few listens in. This is depressing as fuck.

Way more than anything else they've done.

Its growing on me. I really like the first 3 tracks. 'Ill capio' is a dirge indeed Ill agree with that. And as I said before I think the song the missed off is better than the closer 'troubled cells'

Ye I can agree with that. To me it feels like this album doesn't even take off before the drum rolls on Killing Rapture.

Great review dude. I can certainly see where you're coming from but it sounds like a fresh approach to the sludge/ post metal genre to me (didn't know this style was done before, going to give Black Tape for a Blue Girl a listen).

Good to know, heaviness comes in many forms and not just metal.
