the way i do it, pretty much every time, is I listen to the album enough to remember the sound and general progression of every song, then I wait til I have some work time, then I sit down and do the whole thing right there. usually the only edits i end up making have to do with phrasing and grammar and such. sometimes i'll have a unifying idea for the review in mind, or i'll already know what i want the summary to be (that was the case with this one), but a lot of times i just pull the whole thing out of my head in a sitting. i think it's more natural that way, and you'll end up saying more of what you wanna say

Cool to see another reviewer's process. I usually try get the core review down in one long session as you described, but with trickier ones (either the music is particularly difficult to describe or I'm trying a different structure) I often work on it over a couple of weeks. Also depends on how busy life is at the time as well
