Damn, you beat me to this. I can't possibly award this album more than a paltry 2.0. It is an absolute disaster and it really conjures feelings of "what exactly happened to this band?". They were on such the right track with Erdentempel, too. Also, the album cover fucking blows.

the album cover reminds me of... Rekreatur.

For me the first 4 tracks are pretty damn good. Then most the stuff after that I can't really see myself coming back to. It's fine, fun stuff, but I can't help but think those songs are just much weaker versions of stuff they have already done. The video game song "Helden" is fairly fun. The final two tracks feel really barren and simplistic, ending the album strangely. I like their really happy sounding stuff so "Koyaaniskatsi" was nice but there just wasn't much too it. Where are the ripping guitar leads that used to make cameos in their material?
The band had an amazing energy and tasteful complexity that isn't on this album at all. Erdentempel is outstanding. Rekreatur has a couple weaker tracks but also some of my favorites, particularly the masterwork "Aus Ferner Zeit. Sagas is unbelievably good. I haven't listened to the first album much.

eh yea kinda, i still think it has its strong suits but there are some pretty poor songs here
totally forgot about helden, all the nintendo-y electronics in that one are just cringeworthy. there's a pretty cool melodic progression at the end that kinda makes it worth it tho
eternal destination is probably the best thing here overall

Just an FYI someone else featured this so it doesn't mean it was the winner. I mean, it might be but I don't know yet. In all likelihood with a competition centered around reviews of new releases several submissions will likely end up earning a feature.
Winning just guarantees the feature, as well as the blog spotlight, picking an album for the next week, et al.

Re-listening to Sagas. Definitely better than I remember, might bump it up. Though I initially rated it after a heavy binge of frost-bitten trve metal. It is a damn fun record to say the least

http://www.rocksins.com/reviews/equilibrium-armageddon/ This was my view on it. I liked it but it's definitely just another Equilibrium album rather than an expansion of their sound.
Need to mention the 8-bit of Helden too.

It's not bad, but definitely a step-down from Erdentempel which was great. The production is also a bit worse.
But there are still a couple of nice jams on here, Heimat being my favorite.

Just listened to Born to Be Epic...I can't believe they went from Sagas to this. Shite.

Sagas is one of the best albums ever though so it's kinda unfair to compare.
Jamming this now and I don't think it's as bad as most of you are making it out to be tbh.
