Cool review dude, glad to see these guys getting some love around here. Had to bump my rating up to a 4 after revisiting this and the blessing alongside the new full length. I'd kind of forgotten about these guys in a way as the tapes had just ended up amongst the mass of others i've got and never ended up getting played for ages, then you told me about the new release and boom! They've been in solid rotation ever since, hopefully should get my new s/t tape through any day now too :]

Yeah these guys are actually fantastic. I've never heard them until the new album, but going back to listen to their older stuff has been amazing.

Fauna: first half great, second half (clean bit and melody) loses steam
Flora: g r e a t first half, but loses steam after the clean section and the latter bm section isn't as good as the first
Lands: slow to get going, but slow riffing actually starts making a cool melodic atmosphere in the second half. Really like the way the tape sounds like it's damaged toward the end; the sound fading in and out reminds me a lot of William Basinski's junk.
I'm thinking a 3/5.

Fair enough. I also love the way the tape kind of sputters out at the end. I also really like the clean sections, but to each his own.

The blessing is super noisey
first track was cool, second was some of that Wold-y blackened power electronic or w/e nonsense that I hate, third track is cool.

This is fucking awesome, like it just a litte more than the LP probably. And yeah the production sucks hard, but it rules at the same time.
I'm having the same experience with this demo that I had with Ash Borer's first demo, kinda just blowing me away.

At first I was thrown by how noisy this is and thought I wouldn't like it, but once I accepted its sound I really, really dug it. This is a different kind of bm, but it sorta returns to the original goal of second wave style, to have the 'poor' production serve an atmospheric purpose. Never heard anything quite like this though.
Review is really well written and structured, and now that I've heard this it's spot on with its description. "Somewhere between the instrumental tumult and white noise exists a gorgeous resonance that was almost certainly an unintentional byproduct, but its presence is invaluable. It's the link to the meditative escapism the album thrives on." That part especially is perfect. The album nearly pulsates due to the nature of its production.

The production honestly puts this over the top for me and makes it my fav of theirs. This demo in particular reminds me so much of the first Ash Borer demo just with a little more experimentation.
The production on their other demos gets a little cleaner (or better, idk if clean is the right word), but I love how they consistently mix raw bm, punk, and drone type ambience into their sound.

That AB album is kickass too

Yeah I honestly see these guys as a mixture of Ash Borer and Axis of Light. And anyone familiar with those bands won't be disappointed with these guys.

I can get behind that, they're like Axis style with the atmosphere and production of Ash.

Exactly how I would put it bro.
