Great review, I enjoyed the thing you did at the end with the song categories. I'm not going to listen to this though, and I don't plan on it. The songs I've heard are just so boring to me.

Did anyone really expect anything different from these guys? And seriously, can't they think of literally any other ideas for album covers???

you call it sophomoric, I call it incredibly well calculated and working as intended.

I like the logo album covers tbh
given how corny these guys can occasionally get, I'm not so sure other covers would actually be a good move

why are we still talking about their song and album names? clearly they don't take themselves seriously and don't want people to. move on.

This wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, Marigold and Absolomb rule but man those first two songs are just so awful.

At attracting/retaining sophomoric attention, yes.

When I heard Absolob was going to be on this I was super excited because Bulb's original demo is one of my favourite djent songs.
But regarding this version, the vocals are great on it, but the guitar/bass tones and changing around they did aren't as good imo

more like PeriIVy

A lot of their "hook" moments and choruses have gotten too weird for me to really latch onto after the first two albums. The vocal melodies grabbed your attention way more on I and II. With that being said this does have a fair amount of jams

Objectively brilliant comment. Misha, plz use.
@Kronzo - Really? I've felt like they've definitely gotten less weird and, say, forced over time.

yeah Atomic I guess it's just a personal taste thing for me, there's nice stuff here but there isn't any pure ear-candy like Scarlet, Insomnia, The Gods Must Be Crazy, Luck as a Constant, or Buttersnips to name a few. The last thing they wrote which I found really catchy was the chorus of 22 Faces

the band in general has just done a lot of weird things overall, some of which have not gone over well

These guys need to focus on their songwriting skills and write pleasant melodic songs and leave the tech stuff to Sikth. I am getting so sick of their overuse of minor second harmonies one minute and lovely pop choruses the next.

they've always cared more about their technical prowess than actual songwriting, pretty much the reason why I'd say they're going to just die off when the next record hits.

I'm a huge Periphery fanboy and I'm loving this album so far, 2nd half is astounding

dig the album but catch fire has to be their worst song ever

Looking forward to hearing this. Loved Juggernaut.

Catch Fire is a grower, it's not a bad song but it is definitely the weakest track here
