I have no idea why this started trending in the mainstream, but something else needs to trend quick in the pop scene. I genuinely enjoy a lot of pop, but this is one period of pop history that I just can't get behind.

I blame It's Time, that song was MASSIVE and American Author's Best Day of My Life tried so hard to capture that sound.

"Best Day of My Life" sounds like an imagine dragons cover band, sure, but i think people overlook how many bands of the late 00's this sounds like a more watered down version of... Vampire Weekend, Little Comets, Locksley, etc.
