Was watching some Jarzombek videos and people said he should have joined DT. First off, so glad he ended up with FW, he's an amazing fit and DT is so dull now.
Secondly he absolutely shits on Mangini in terms of creativity and musicality. Fucking beast

The engineering and production on this is amazing. The guitars and drums sound exceptional
And it has some fucking heavy sections. Heavier than anything they've done before. Reminds me a bit of modern Symphony X

@pirip yeah people rate albums after one listen. FW albums are notorious for taking a while to digest

Is it streaming or something? There seems to be more ratings now. The 2.0 rating is a bit concerning, especially since it hasn't even been released.

Yeah it leaked... the two 2.0 votes are concerning bc deaf people are voting based on the album artwork (which is kinda sucky).

Been listening to this album for awhile now and I'm debating heavily between giving the album a 4.5 or a straight-up 5. This album is one of the absolute best works from the band, no joke. Might even be my new favorite from them.

Loving this so far, though it took me 4-5 listens to realise it. Potentially my favourite FW to date! The review sums it up perfectly, perfect mix of heavy and melodic without sacrificing a progressive edge.
And the lyrics are bloody damn great, Ray is so powerful on this (in contrast to the latest Redemption, where at times I feel he sounded bored or disinterested, despite the excellent music)

Parallels was my jam (as much as that album can be a jam), so of course I'm going to have to listen to this.

To quote user cloakanddagger from the soundoff page of Amorphis's Under The Red Cloud: It should be considered a criminal offence how solid this band is.
I loved Darkness in a Different Light, but this one truly feels like the next chapter in the band's history. Heavier, more riff-driven yet maintains the melancholic atmosphere, not to mention it's insanely accessible (even the 10 minute epics). Jim Matheos and Frank Aresti does some serious guitar work here, Jarzombek is a beast and even Ray Adler's singing is more impressive. Close to a perfect 5, however I'm not fond of the title track so I stay with 4.5.
Dream Theater should take some serious notes from these guys.

Matheos has hardly made a misstep his entire career. Its something you can't teach I guess. I doubt DT at this point can compose heavy music that feels natural like this

Dude is easily among the most underrated guitarist of the whole heavy metal scene. His style pretty much define the band's sounds.
