"The Private Press was solid. This is pretty good too. MUCH better than The Less You Know."

i mean it's an easy way to spot a poser if they haven't even heard the private press but run their mouth anyway

Nobody Speak, Depth Charge, and Mambo sticking out as contenders for worst songs of the year.

its like Shadow over here had a bunch of WIP files on his lappy and just said fuck it and threw them together and hoped for the best. its like he actively went out of his way to burn any and all paths he could've taken to make some killer jams.

i mean, its not hard to fuck up flat beat bass songs like Mambo but Shadow sure found a way.

Honestly, only a couple songs on this feel fully finished. Bergschrund, Nobody Speak, and maybe Suicide Pact, and of those, I only like the first two of them. Berg's enjoyable, and Nobody Speak has a good riff and lyrics so vulgarly goofy that it's adorable.

The rest of the album is kinda junk though. There are some good ideas in places, like in Ashes to Oceans, the title track or Pitter Patter, but there's not enugh meat to them to justify anything beyond being 90 seconds long.

I wish he'd go back to doing stuff like The Private Press. A sample-built album like Endtro is nearly impossible to make nowadays without either getting sued or paying an absolutely ludicrous amount of money for licensing each and every sample, but just recording original sounds and drumbeats to be a jumping off point to make something enjoyable like Private shouldn't be that much of a hassle, should it? I mean, even The Less You Know had more good moments than Mountain.

The cover art for this has a similar color palette to that of Holy Smokes - Talk To Your Kids About Gangs. Someone should add that group to this website...hmm, maybe I will.
