Picked this up today, liked the last 2 so this should be cool.

I've only listened to this twice so far, but it just isn't gripping me like the last couple albums. Still cool though.

This will probably wear off after awhile but this group is too much goddamn fun.

"Powerviolence for people who haven't heard powerviolence"

Agreed. Though powerviolence gateway album may be accurate too. People will check this and hopefully explore the genre.

Why is this being called powerviolence? Because it's fast and it's hardcore?

This is alright. Although they're certainly not the heaviest band in the world as I've seen them be referred to.

Only playing 'one minute hard ass riffs' does nothing for me either because at least in my case the heaviness is all about the build up and a sense of growing tension before the release. But I'm not really the biggest fan of grind so I was never going to love these guys

It still gets the head banging though

There are different kinds of "heavy" anyway. It's pretty subjective. Meshuggah is also widely considered to be the heaviest band out there and they're completely different stylistically and aren't even the most downtuned band out there.
