Considering that PoS belong to the new prog metal generation ( younger bands in comparison with the holy monsters like DT and FW for example) they are without a doubt iconic imho.

I agree. But as you know, Daniel always said that Pain Of Salvation is a different band and always change the style from album to album. Anyway, I always loved their two first albums. I think they're really two amazing works for a begginer. Unfortunatelly, they're, in general less appreciated, I think, than their following albums, namely The Perfect Element and Remedy Lane ,which is really a pity.

The first two albums are more downright metal and are more rough, less polished production-wise. The Perfect Element and Remedy Lane are more melodic and have more depth imo. All their albums have awesome compositions thanks to the genius of Daniel.
