The idea that this album is heralded as ART within progressive music (4.1 average is akin to nearly classic status around here) confounds me. I get that it's well done PROG, but man this album brings nothing new to the table and feels like Dream Theater and 70s prog rehashed...there's nothing "progressive" about it. And as I've said in the 'Affinity' thread, don't get me started on "Cockroach King". I'm sure prog fans find it hilarious, but how someone can be moved by it and thus take this album seriously as more than just a fun/silly Dream Theater knockoff is beyond me.

Can I just say as a massive Haken fan, that I find this album to be the one overrated album thus far. I started with this one and though there are some great tracks within, I feel their other three albums and the Restorations EP are honestly significantly better. I'm really glad I didn't stop listening to them and I still think this is a good album but after listening to the other albums, it's missing the stand out moments. I will also add that I think Affinity is a classic and their best work to date, so there's that.

1. Because it's awesome

2. Cockroach King rules

3. Dream Theater is fucking INSANELY cheesy now, sure they're heavily influenced by them but my God this is infinitely better than anything they've released in well over a decade (probably since 1999)

Parts of this album are silly, and I love it for that. But it also knows when to be serious, when to be beautiful, and when to be heavy, it's the huge variation in tracks that makes it a 5 for me. Incredible stuff.
