Peace sells is still my favorite, it's more punchier. Megadeth maybe the original wanky band

"Other than perhaps Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, I have yet to hear an album that manages to perfectly work as a whole, while simultaneously having every song work on their own merits"

You need to dig deeper in music, Dream Theatre's Scenes From A Memory, Caladan Brood's Echoes of Battles...

Rev is pretty good!

Well, I agree with the rating and everything, but I don't think the review says anything else than what has already been said in other reviews of this album. Your writing is good, so this must have felt like a nice exercise, but it just doesn't contribute anything new.

One thing I glaringly disagree with is your comment about Ellefson's bass playing. Dawn Patrol? Intro to 5 Magics? Those bass runs in Take no Prisoners? The ascent during the final part in Tornado? There's plenty of exciting bass playing here.

Hm, seems like this plan went awry somehow... At least until now.

ave Ellefson provides bass work, and is probably the only thing really disappointing about this album. Not to say his bass playing is bad per se, just that it stands out as being the least impressive. It's like being a low end Ferrari at a car show. Sure it isn't the nicest thing there, but judged on its own merits, it is still fantastic. His bass playing doesn't so much stand out on it's own usually as it provides an almost counter melody to the guitar. While those counter melodies aren't typically anything terribly impressive, the fact that they are there makes his bass playing stand out, as most thrash bass players simply play in the background, often being so similar in part to the guitars that it is confused WITH the guitar

omg first of all its impressive on its own that the bass follows the guitars note for note plus there are plenty of bass standout moments like take no prisoners mini bass solo and five magics intro and dawn patrol and lucretia intro holy fuck the guitars doin that main riff with the bass thuddin the low E its so perfect words cant even fully describe. plus his tone was fucking killer on this record

KILL, I agree that there are moments here where the bass stands out, but it isn't anything too terribly noteworthy, outside of that little bass solo during Take No Prisoners which is awesome. I don't ever find myself remembering any of the bass work, regardless of how technically impressive it might be
