"And I also can get behind the shots fired at Sputnik groupthink. Everyone's an armchair critic here; very few of them actually put out content -- and thereby a piece themselves -- for comment and criticism, preferring to pronounce judgment anonymously and therefore safely behind their screen names and pics/gifs."
this is an awful argument, u dont need to put out music in order to criticize it

that one line about the bus is very lol, otherwise it's not necessarily bad, albeit the criticisms seem sort of whiny

I get people not liking this album. But writing this is silly, but i do mainly disagree with your opinions on music so i am not even surprised by this very childish point of view

For a staff review this a really shitty rant. Remind me again why we can't pos/neg staff and contrib reviews?

"Pleb logic," huh? Coming from those who misrepresented what I claimed, that's rich. But for their sake, I'll clarify:
It wasn't an argument, but an observation-as-an-indictment. The vast majority of people on here don't put out regular reviews, write and edit entries for the database, report news, etc. That's what I meant by "content," not musicianship. On the contrary, most who comment are comfortable with anonymously savaging people on here for liking such-an-such or being fans of this maligned popular genre when these rubes -- however unpopular their tastes may be for here -- took the effort into putting their view out there for the masses in the form of content. I've seen these elites of criticism revel at being cynical at a distance, offering no skin in the game themselves, against those who dare don't share their tastes. They're hugely critical without being any sort of constructive. Sputnik exists for them to sneer, leer, jeer and feel superior about their effete, non-mainstream tastes in music, which is easy.
What's not is dissenting and taking a potshot at Sputnik's culture. Do I agree with the review -- no, it's admittedly short on analysis -- but I applaud Rudy, whether he realizes it or not, for lambasting how narrow-minded, petty, onanistic and overly serious about it all this place has become.

I can totally get why people don't like the Deftones. But as a Deftones album this could be their best. It may not have their best songs but its the most complete and consistent album they have released while still wandering a bit with their song structures. Diamond Eyes was a consistent album, but played it safe, Koi No Yokan focused to much on the production that it kinda fell flat and the songs blended together. Their other albums have had huge valleys and peaks. I am not an objective viewpoint, but to call this crap is a huge stretch. The fact that your shitty review/opinion gets bumped to the top of the reviews of this cause you are staff is absolutely ridiculous and is insulting to the integrity of this site.

Well, he absolutely has the right to think it's crap, and even to write a review explaining why he thinks it's crap. But if you're a staff reviewer, you should be writing professional-quality reviews, and juvenile rants like this absolutely should not be flagged.

Just cause this review shit on Deftones and you agree that the album is not very good does not make this review a good review

Pretty sure you wrote a similar review for Koi no Yokan, so why did you even bother listening to this?
"with glassed over eyes and unsettling smiles they tell me how amazing Deftones over and over again"
Think you're missing an "are" after Deftones here.
