I went through crippling panic attacks almost every day for two years. There were many days in which i was totally convinced i was going to die. I became convinced i had cancer or something because i would start getting days where id be short of breath all day and the slightest exertion felt like it was going to kill me. i had to stop working, that was back in December. I finally decided to give another medication a try after being afraid to try anything new because the other two i tried just made things worse. Its helping a lot though, and im gradually having less and less anxiety. I feel somewhat normal again and im looking for a job.

I would not wish a panic disorder on my worst enemy.

Glad you're okay, man. That sounds truly awful. Like you said, I wouldn't wish a panic disorder upon my worst enemy. It makes your life into some never-ending cycle of fear and self-loathing (at least for me). It's cool people have taken to talking about their experiences in the comment section-- as I said in the review, there's comfort in understanding.

Album title shouldn't have the 'of.'

Only on the first track right now, but this sounds like something that would resonate with me. Nice review, I'll have to give this a full listen.

@Adolf

You should try some mindfulness (meditation) and why not some EMDR sessions, to see what triggered these attacks and how to fix it... Medication is fine, but it HAS to go hand in hand with some therapy, otherwise, the pain will always be there...

The 3 bonus tracks barely lifted this to a 3.5 for me.

Still trying to figure out if this is good or not

First few tracks had me really feeling stuff but it seems to drop off

Second half houses my favourites. Break, Blood Under The Bridge and Die Like A Rich Boy are all standouts.

God those first 3 tracks though

It takes a lot to make my heart sink anymore, but all three of those songs bring me down in an awesome way

To be honest I think the only song that doesn't fully resonate is An Otherwise Disappointing Life, which sorta ambles. Everything else I really enjoy. Little Drum is especially good.

I liked An Otherwise Disappointing Life - to me that signaled the end of a duller stretch

Keep in mind this is my first listen and I doubt the lyrics have fully resonated with me yet

I felt the album has to many kinda similar midtempo songs that are to similar to "standard" streamlined alternative rock.

That's my problem with certain portions of this

I'm torn because without the lyrics this is a notch above average, but the lyrics are so so good

Hutchinson is one of the best lyricists out there and they are great once again.

I would say the instrumentation is not particularly inspired, but it suits the tone of the record and its context. I don't think it needed to be flashy. To that end though, I might have preferred if a few more tracks were like Die Like A Rich Boy, and weren't buffered by group vocals.

This any different than The Winter Of Mixed Drinks and Midnight?

Closer to Winter of Mixed Drinks, but with simpler, reined-in production.

Placeholder rating. The middle and end of this did very little for me. I'm still rating it highly though because the lyrics across the board are just killer, and there are still certain moments (Death Dream, Get Out, Wish I Was Sober, Rich Boy) that are just perfect.
