For some bizarre reason the links in the "recommended by reviewer" aren't working

Thanks cryptologous, if this is at least on par with their other 2 albums I'll definitely dig

This album was great from start to finish. Powerful vocals, tasty instrumentals, and great songwriting. However, apparently the album was released without permission from the composer, which is quite the dick move

Well according to the other members, that composer guy tried taking the album from them and release it with another band or something, so they wanted to release it asap because it's their effort

Thanks for the article, Rice303! I am not entirely who is in the right or wrong, but it is a shame the album's production went through hell. Pre-releasing and threatening to re-release with another band are both trashy moves. Hopefully the members come to a nice conclusion and future endeavors aren't tainted by similar issues.

Oh, and I see what you are saying, Shuyin! I can't figure out why they aren't working either so I will try and re-post them. I personally prefer this to their previous works by a fair amount. It is considerably more melodic and incorporates a lot of different sounds; I personally felt their previous efforts, while inventive for deathcore, were too mechanical in sound. This has a beautiful flow throughout imo!

I saw a statement that the composer put out, and he said that he singlehandedly wrote every piece of every track that Slice the Cake has ever done. He even has the tabs for every instrument for every song to back up his point. He still respects the musicians fully, but the fact that they all live on three separate continents is too much stress on all of them to work together properly, so he wanted to move on to another band while still technically being Slice the Cake - it's weird. Either way, it's all fucked up, but this album is still a damn achievement in every sense. Kudos to everyone involved for sure.

Holy crap that's a lot of hard work. I'd be seriously disappointed in the band if it's true. Mad props for being able to write an album like this; haven't heard a single-man project as dense since Griseus.

This album jams so hard... it's getting better with each listen! Just to let you all know this may be the last album Slice the Cake releases, the singer announced that he is leaving the band and letting the other members keep the name and that they may find another singer for the band.

It's something you should listen to in whole, because if you pick random songs, it's not gonna make much sense. It's a lot to digest, either way.

the intro piece was interesting for a while, but i think i dragged on too long and the vocals turning into that generic warped evil sounding shit was kinda silly

first couple of tracks on this are going hard though. vocals are straight vitriol

I found the vocals suited the concept of the album. Sure, they are ridiculously over the top, but I feel it really works, and especially considering the record's consistent build-up.

Then again, I am a huge sucker for theatrics. I know it isn't gonna float a lot of people's boats, but mine's been sailing at full speed ever since it's release. That average is definitely inflated though; feels deserving of a 4.0 at the very most, and that might even be pushing it considering it's deathcore feel

Mess seems to be a common thread in all of Slice the Cake's albums. This one feels considerably more reigned in than their previous works in regards to the structural department of individual songs. I'd say give it a few more listens. I found the lyrics and motifs allowed for the entirety of the record to sound more cohesive on the whole. Thanks for popping by nonetheless!

I'll definitely give this a few more listens before settling on a rating. I've never been a huge fan of these guys, but this is definitely the best thing they've done

This is currently the second highest rated black metal album of all time on this site. lmfao
