Yeah I was worried I used a few words too many times--"riffs" was another one. I ultimately decided to stick with the instances of "animalistic" I used because it seemed like a good, consistent way to refer to Cobalt's signature sound, but I can definitely see where you're coming from.

@hesperus, you're good man. like I said, that's a fitting way to describe their sound, and I'm just being nitpicky. nothing wrong with using a good descriptor like that more than once, just some general advice. I really enjoyed your Mimisiku review as well, keep up the good work

yeah basically everyone who talks about cobalt talks about their 'animality', so i wouldn't sweat it. i remember in one of the single releases, some guy wrote like 6000 words on it for just one song, it was terrible

Great review. Album rules hard and you're 100% correct. Only Cobalt sound like Cobalt. Such an addictive mash-up of black metal, crust punk, doom and Wild West-styled atmospheric licks.

i kind of like the dryer sound, reminds me of the inclement heat of a desert or a forest fire, hard to get into tho

It's definitely the best song on the album, and that's saying something. I heard it and immediately knew I had to devote a full paragraph to it.

It's like they captured that intensity from the breakdown in Arsonry and made a whole album out of it.

Would be better if it didnt have all those cheesy rock n rollish riffs thrown in, but still a pretty good album, nowhere near gin tho.

I think I should re-listen.

Those riffs rule bro [2]

This album has tons of really groovy riffs. Hard to listen to without banging your head.

riffs are amazing, honestly though the vocals can be pretty underwhelming at times

disagree as hard as I possibly can, Fell does an amazing job =[

Cobalt's always been associated with an animalistic, bestial sound (it comes up in every review basically ever), and Fell is one of the best choices possible to capture that spirit
