I kinda liked Beyond and New World Shadows but Omnium Gatherum always came across as a more upbeat version of Insomnium for me, and even then I've grown tired of Insomnium's sound over the years.

I used to be obsessed with melodeath but it's really just the same chord progressions and song structures over and over again. It's one of those genres that has become excessively more derivative over the years. I'll stick with Dark Tranquillity and Hypocrisy.

New World Shadows is cool, only thing I've ever jammed from these guys. I'll give this a listen.

It's all good broski. As far as the Scar Symmetry comparisons go, they both do this whole keyboard heavy sci-fi meloprog death thing. At times, I find they sound very similar.

Good rev Spirit. Been on a bit of a CoB kick recently so I might give this a go.

Props to Dark for actually coming back and apologising, you don't usually see that.

Not too keen on this review. I know what you're saying with the constant comparisons to other bands, but it takes you over half the write-up before you begin describing the music in any kind of detail, by which time my interest has waned a little. Also there's a few grammatical hiccups eg. "that's what makes* my first experience" and "As far as* metal goes".

That said, I listened to the opening track on this and I can't say I disagree lol

Thanks for the catches Jaq. Will fix when I get home. About the comparisons, I was using them as a descriptor of the music themselves, just because they all really do sound so similar.

gotta confess I dug Beyond for the most part. New Dynamic is such a tune. guess I'll have to check this out even though it'll most likely be rehashed melodeath. then again, I can jive with that every now and then.

Omnium Gatherum has always been that band that i could only get into becuase of Insomnium similarities. I do like Beyond the Dawn's vocalist better than this guy but he gets the job done.

I thought Skyline was more reminiscent of old school In flames than Scar symmetry.
