I'd say the review reads more as a 3.5 considering the higher averages on here generally.

This is their second best after Rareform. Catacombs is actually a pretty varied song for coming out of a core band, really really like the initial groove.. Overall is super strong, probably gonna rate it 3.5 although it's better than both WW and ID (which I have rated 3.5). 3.8 with Rareform being a 4.

Had some good moments, but as far as ATB goes it sounded the same as everything else. In fact, Wolves Within had way better riffing and more range in the screaming. Definitely sitting at a 2.5 for me.

the more I listen to it, it has some incredibly sick parts. Also has some corny as fuck shit, but I think the sick shit makes up for those moments

This album is complete and utter dogshit, shouldn't you all be hyping Thrice and Opeth or am I 4-5 years too late for that?

Those are actually good bands though... Like it or not, Opeth has never released anything as bad at this. Not even the last two. :/

Soul Sphere is better than this. Both bands are cheesy but they do it well imo

Great review! Nice to see a metalcore album that actually tries to put structure and technicality over popularity. Though this doesn't even come close to Unearth's latest. Wish a few more bands would go for the early 2000's sound, but that's the cost of progress I guess. Torn between a 2.5 and a 3.0; just finding there isn't much to take in aside from some catchy riffs. Love the summary!

the early 2000's sound has dated horribly. and thats when bands started whoring breakdowns anyways, it was no golden era for the genre. that would be the 90's.
