I'd agree with that, Beware and The Letting Go are not far behind though

Hey thanks for the suggestions, Doof.

"Oldham has an unmistakable voice that breaks and falters just so..."
So, he's actually doing it on purpose. I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up. This is my first album of his. Maybe wasn't the best place to start.

He's the king of croak Twig, if you prefer a similar style but a smoother set of pipes go for Jason Molina / Songs:Ohia
I'll give you a Will Oldham song rec list:
I See a Darkness (obvious song pick)
New Partner (under the Palace Music name)
Strange Form of Life
I Called You Back
Knockturne
Wolf Among Wolves
Beast for Thee
See if any of that grabs you, if it doesn't Will's probably not your boy

His singing style is different. Definitely a little off-putting (for me) at first, but I can see it's not without its charms. Honestly, not sure what to make of it yet, time will tell . . . A Will Oldham crash course, nice. I'll check out that Jason Molina too. I'm always up for a smooth set of pipes, thanks!
