This fills the same spot for me as Jimmy Eat World- solid alt-rock that's great when you're in the right mood. Basement aren't as good at the 'pretty' moments as JEW though, so it lacks the dynamics of an album like Futures.

nice review and I pretty much agree
it's a shame because I liked their debut, but this is just so unoriginal. nothing terrible about it, just not feeling it at all

Yeah, I loved the original and enjoyed Colourmeinkindness quite a bit but this felt kinda underwhelming. There are a couple of good songs here for sure, but on most I feel like they lean way too much into the 90s alt worship territory and it does not work in the songs' favor at all.

Huh. This is actually quite a fun little record.

Halo is fucking gorgeous man

If this were released in 1995 it would be the worst album of all time only to be given iconic status in or around 2010 before 2014ish people realise it is redundant twaddle. As it is its 2016 and its just rubbish.
