I get it's your opinion & all, but I'm seeing a lot of Dream Theater hate here going on just for its own sake, even though the review's kinda funny. In the DT catalog, I reckon it's probably on par with Octavarium or Train Of Thought for me. Pretty great, not quite their best, although I reckon it's probably their best record since Six Degrees (on par with Awake) at its best bits. Sorry, but I think most of the hate Dream Theater gets is pretty unwarranted most of the time. But hey, that's just me, sorry if guys disagree.

Tbh they've done relatively the same thing on their last couple of albums, and the formula has gotten a little stale at this point. This album is basically just their last album with a story line and a run time stretched to over two hours. That's just me though.

Or you could spend those two hours doing some else, like watching Citizen Kane, reading the first few chapters of Brothers Karamazov, or something interesting.

^ man it's been a while since I sat down and read a classic. I have Karamazov on my phone but haven't read yet.

haha....not for everyone....the melodies and harmonies on this are great......no metal or wankery here lloyd.....they dialed it down and kept it simple.....albeit a lot of simple

The Grand Inquisitor section of that book is one of the greatest things ever.

I think Notes from the Underground and Crime and Punishment are better, more concise works, but the Grand Inquisitor segment of Karamazov may be his greatest moment.
