It's indeed just way too long

The fact that it is long really is no problem to me, the last Maiden was 80 minutes long and I loved it. They just need to entertain you in those 2h+ time, because you'll get bored easily.

At least they're putting the effort in, unlike the last one which seemed like they were just going through the motions

Haha I also enjoyed the previous one :D

But yeah they stayed in their comfort zone. On this one though, they really tried something different.

Yeah not saying that is was bad, just lacking in ambition.
This on the other hand is very ambitious.

Gotcha. Funny enough, the hype wasn't as big for me as it was on their previous release. I actually bought it because I saw it in stores, thought it would come out later this year.

It's funny that people will eventually chose over the positive aspects of the album (aong orientation, DT experimentation, cheesy but overall solid plot, etc.) and the only bad thing about this will be its length! Needs time, for sure. I believe my rating will change over time more than once.

I was thinking about buying it but I'll probably wait since there's other stuff coming up.

I've been listening for about 30 minutes... I don't know what song I'm on, but this is boring as fuck. Mangini is the Shawn Drover of prog -- solid but totally bland. At this point, it's seems pretty damn official that Portnoy was keeping this band from dropping into cheese-filled, generic prog.

Dunno if sarcasm, if so, then don't bother listening. If not, then you might have to visit your doctor see if he can diagnose you with ADD. Even at a length of just short of Star Wars episode 7, it demands your attention all the way through. And about the drummer, you shouldve auditioned for DT, you kno. Show Mike how it's done.

They really need Portnoy back, he gave the percussion some character.

Avantasia, Primal Fear, and Bury Tomorrow all released albums today. I suppose the astonishing is a hit or miss, I see people who aren't fans (metalsucks) enjoy the album, then you see "fans" whine and moan about how it isn't scenes.

don't know what ya'll talking about, this is really good so far. fucking pessimists

Mangini get's way too much shit imo. Sure he's not as good as Portnoy but that doesn't mean he's complete shit like all of you are saying. I'd say he does a pretty damn good on here for the most part.

I mean can you honestly say that someone is terrible when they are in the biggest prog metal band ever? I'm not a fan of Labries voice, he has his moments, much rather listen to Jorn Lande or Russell Allen, but he's obviously a professional. Who am I to say he's devoid of talent? Get off your high horse.
