On the 4th song right now. I saw this review on the front page and decided to give it a spin. So far this is a really nice change up to what ive been listening to. Im really glad its all instrumental. I may write my first contribution to this site with a review . This is alot of fun to listen to!!!!

I gotta agree with what Johnny said though. Its very informative and all but has essentially no personality. Feels like a robot typed this up because theres no emotion or anything. Nada. I feel like if you were to describe how you like the music or what parts of songs really get your rocks off would be cool you know?

Also @ Pennywise, to answer your question its essentially in the name itself. Jam Rock is instrumental rock heavily influenced by psychedelic rock. In other words its like stoner rock without vocals and loads of soloage.

Loved this, really good review too.

Every one of this new trend of intrumental metal bands sound exactly the same, nothing stands out, there's simply no soul in their music. We live in the age of wankery and people are buying it. Guess I'm too old for this.

I 80% agree with you garden, this definitely isn't something I'd just sit down and listen to but I could do chores and shit while listening to this pretty happily

@Gard3n I totally get that statement. And while there are some bands who are able to pull off the wankery without losing any emotion (Animals as Leaders, T.R.A.M.) I feel like this is something that Pomegranate Tiger and a lot of other bands struggles with.
@Calc It's interesting to think about what would happen to the music if vocals were added. They would definitely have to strip back the riffing but that could very well provide the breathing room some of these songs need.

you should listen to a band called mandroid echostar.

Have to agree that this one's only passable. There were some things I definitely liked about the last one that I guess I'm not hearing in this one, so it's a disappointment in my eyes.

I can agree that Animals as Leaders and Scale the Summit are the two bands I respect the most in this new trend.

"Also @ Pennywise, to answer your question its essentially in the name itself. Jam Rock is instrumental rock heavily influenced by psychedelic rock. In other words its like stoner rock without vocals and loads of soloage."
Maybe im just treading new water here but isn't kinda like saying "Garage Rock" or just "Psychedelic Rock" mixed with something? Also just cus it's instrumental it has a genre of its own? Anyway didn't mean to discuss the whole theory around the genre, it's just weird to see tags like that floating around whereas "Deathcore" seems like a blasphemy for some people.
"you should listen to a band called mandroid echostar."
Calc definitely knows.

What about it was shit? I remember them sounding really meaty...
|
| |
Not like you asked me or anything BUT
The drums do sound big (see: meaty) but all the decay on the cymbal crashes is faded out or non-existent...sort of like how Tosin writes the extros to his songs - fade it out bro, just faaaaaade it out.
