the remedy sounds like an APC song and it seems like people like that song the most. make of that what you will.

I totally dig Puscifer. Their first album is utter trash and feels like a joke, and the EP's don't really interest me, but Money Shot and Conditions for My Parole are the best albums Maynard has done since Lateralus (or Mer De Noms, I forget the order those two were released in). Yes, I like them more than Thirteenth Step (great songs, but it's an uneven listen) and definitely more than 10,000 Days. And I think I like Money Shot a little better than Conditions, even. The consistency of the brooding theme (with the title track being the only real break in that tone) really helps it out. I really enjoy a lot of the lyrics- From the classically-Maynard-goofy-yet-profound spoken word on 'Simultaneous' to 'The Remedy," which reminds me of 'The Outsider' in all the best ways.
Honestly, I'm pretty unconvinced that a new Tool album has much potential to be good. If the band isn't up to making something at least as good as this, Maynard ought to just keep doing Puscifer albums.

Pointless comment ahead, but should 'hell' be before the dash, or after it? If it's the start of the sidethought, surely after the dash...? Putting it before seems a bit like something's occurred to you, then something else has immediately also occurred to you, and the first thing has been forgotten. Sweet review, though.

Though Puscifer have always kind of disappointed me in comparison to Maynard's other work, and this record doesn't massively change that, The Remedy is really fun. A whole album of that and he'd have my attention for sure but as is it's just not really consistent enough.

What I don't get is why people are always comparing the three bands Maynard is in anyway. These guys are stylistically completely different from Tool and APC.
|
| |
and, of course, Tool is completely different from APC as well

everyone i've talked to without any laughter to about this group says to not take his singles seriously. is there any merit to this? i mean have i been overlooking some wonderful gem all this time?
|
| |
no you haven't
|

i tried to get into this, but just couldn't. it keeps me up at night, tbh

"pretty sure this band exists solely to piss off tool fans"
haha maynard is teabagging his fans with this 'til the new tool comes out probably.
will still check this though

Nice review Sowing. I really enjoyed this. Definitely their best piece of work so far.

I've just realised, after many many years of listening to Tool, APC, etc, that "puscifer" is supposed to sound like "pussy fur".

maynard really might have the coolest voice ever.

Good review, bland album. The perpetual dick jokes are getting old and Carina is too perfect to hang around any of these old farts.

Just watched the kids interview Maynard video and Carina is so awful. Maynard trying to keep her in check to not traumatize the poor little girl is hilarious. Spicy Indian spice.
